Strong winds in California heighten fire risk in drought-stricken Los Angeles.

I'm one of those folks you just mentioned, and we like to keep what you call WATER in our fire hydrants... you know so you can fight fire.

Sorry for all those who have sustained losses, but when you elect rejects more concerned about "wokeism" than fire protection... well...

Clown comment. We didn't run out of water there was an isolated issue with water pressure for a short period of time.

Nothing would have stopped this once it got going . This was the perfect powder keg as 60-100 mph winds were gasoline . There goes Trumps idea of deporting a ton of migrants . Matter Of fact the illegals will be coming 10 times more looking for work rebuilding la

You mean the stuff you've been seeing online. I live here I am literally living through this right now. We have dumped an untold amount of water on these fires…
The right is suggesting the government should look after them better while also saying the government should stay out of their daily lives.

Fake news. most on the right wouldnt suggest the government do anymore for They/Them. Most on the right that I have met dont approve of they/them in the first place

I left Los Angeles in 1993 after college due to the 4 seasons:
Fires, Floods, Earthquakes (Northridge) and Riots. (Rodney King)

33 years later, the same 4 seasons still occur.
So, climate change is not the sole reason, as it's been here for decades.
Same with drought and Santa Ana winds.

All I see is lack of preparation.....3 decades is plenty to get your state in order, unless liberals are running the state....ooops.

If we want sustainable occupation of disaster prone areas... strengthening building codes is key. That includes the structure and surrounding property.

We can make houses fire resistant. But codes do not force it.

We can make houses hurricane resistant. But codes do not force it.

It does not eliminate losses, but it drastically reduces them.

Eliminating asphalt shingles, plywood roof decking, flammable siding, foundation vents, attic vents, wood framing in exterior walls. Hardscaping in the yard. No trees within 50ft of a home.

All of this would drastically reduce fire damage. And save many homes in the process. But the codes do not force it. And special interest groups in the homebuilding, real estate, and environmental industries have fought very hard against it.

And what always follows is the 2nd season..........floods.
The fire damage is just the first phase.
The mountains will now generate ash floods when the rain starts.
Should I notify Newsom?
