I'm trying to help my dad enroll in the PCIP program. What is the quickest/painless way he can get a reject letter or coverage with exclusions from a health insurance company? He is still hospitalized. I am not close by so I priority mailed the application w/ a return envelope w/ postage to his best friend that will bring it to him in the hospital.

Thanks for your help. He was scammed by the IRG/AIM thing. Are there any companies that have a call center to take applications? Do you know of a company where it can be done online without interacting with a sales rep?

Most companies have online apps. He can do Humana over the phone. I'd love to hear the app. specialist's reaction when he tells them he's still in the hospital and just needs a decline letter to get into the PICP.

I feel really bad even if it's an employee getting paid an hourly rate I hate to mess with their conversion stats knowing he will be rejected.

See if BCBS or another carrier has a program request form of some sort.

They may not have one in FL since the state pool has been closed for so long.

In CA, Anthem has a form you can use to generate the decline letter without having to do a full application. It's kind of like a formal pre-screen and saves the hassle of a full underwriting.

If no one has it, you'll have to put him through underwriting. The carrier will just have to suck it up since they don't have a program request form.

Here is a link to the CA Anthem form

Do you know how long it takes to get the letter back with full underwriting? I'm hoping we can send in the application for the pcip before 8/15.

I'll check out the different sites, I looked at Aetna so far and they want an application.

It will depend on how fast a decline can be generated. Online applications are best in these situations as the computer can often auto-decline without having to even send it to an underwriter.

Just curious for all your health guys, how are you going to handle this situation going forward? Someone comes to you looking for a rejection letter to get into PCIP. I can already see the quality of health leads deteriorating even further once people know about it.

Why not Medicaid? In GA a Medicaid application can be backdated up to 90 days. Don't know about other states but this happens all the time here.

How do I handle the reject? I point them to BCBSGA.com and tell them to apply there.

I've had to do this a couple times, do online apps with Humana, or Cigna or Golden Rule. They generate decline letters in 1 business day in most cases.

AccessTN here requires 2 declines, or pay a 45 dollar application fee and visit a doctor to be medically qualified.
