HO3 Policy and Swimming Pool

I was told to add 30K for a standard inground pool to dowelling coverage A or additional structure B if there is a pool in the yard. The question is what are we trying to cover. When I look at the covered "causes fo loss" with all the exclusions for HO3, I don't see much coverage is provided in the case there is property damage to a pool. or what can cause damages to a pool that is still covered by a regular HO3?

earthquake? can cause damage to a pool but not covered by HO3.
hit by a car? does not happen to a pool in a backyard that vehicle can't access.
fire, lightning, wind, hail, smoke? can cause no property damage to a pool.
VMM, riot, falling objects, aircraft, explosion? maybe, but they don't happen as often as what listed above.

So why include the pool in dwelling or additional structure part of the policy?

For personal liability part there is a good reason to increase coverage if there is a pool, but that can be done without increasing A or B.

Am I making any sense?

TIA.

To add additional limit to dwelling for the pool is just wrong. The pool is a separate structure and treated like one, depending on the size.

As far as perils covered, earthquake is excluded to the HO3 policy anyways, so no coverage there. If you buy a quake policy, read the policy...most policies will have a sublimit for pools if it's a comprehensive policy. In a mini-policy where there's no Cov B limit, there's no pool coverage.

The only carrier, which is AXIS Reinsurance (in California) that I know of can increase pool coverage by a special endorsement, which increases pool limit to $25,000 (and among other coverages).

A Pool is a seperate structure, here in PHX area, a number of times a year, we see a car run thru a wall and land in the pool, thus porbally damaging the pool surface. If the auto policy doesnt cover it the home will.

"most" homes in PHX area have garages ATTACHED to the house and are not sperate structures, so the pool is covered under seperate structure.

Call a local pool company and ask them what it costs to install a pool, I will tell you it isnt $30,000. The hole is already dug, you more than likey wouldnt have to fix fancy water features. Someone probally will have to pay for a crane to come in to lift the car out of the water, pay to drain the pool and sanitize it from all the fluids from the car.
So there is more to worry about than structure.
