How are they contacting customers when the have a claim? How do they know when they have a claim?

Probably agreements long existing between insurance companies so that when a claim is placed they are alerted. Insurance Companies probably have deals in place to lower the claim amounts they would normally pay to specialized services...e.g. smoke damage removal. Servpro is probably going to be cheaper than JoeSnuffySmith Smoke Removal.
