How Many Companies Are You Using?

I've navigated to:

5-Star (non-smoker rates for chewers; competitive rates, 48-Hour Death Benefit payout on 50% of it; insulin + heat issue friendly).

American Continental (Easy to work with, flexible underwriting).

Vantis (For those with one foot in the grave).

When I get my release, I'll be working in:

Monumental (for COPD/>1 but <2 Heart Disease Prospects, and the 500 lb., 3'10" little people)

Like JD, I carry a bunch others for back up as needed.

I use typically use Foresters, ACI, Monumental and Oxford. Foresters has gotten beyond ridiculous lately with their PHI, it's getting hard to justify using them at all.

Plus their SmartUL only has a 10 yr no lapse guarantee, so IMO it's not really suited for a FE client.

If you would use 5-Star on those cases that you have been writing Foresters with, your life will be much better.

I carry in my main case 5-Star, Monumental, Royal Neighbors, ForeThought

In my backup case (car trunk) I have Settlers, Americo, American Continental, American Memorial.

I MAY work Settlers back into the main case now that they are doing POS approvals. That's a big improvement to me. ForeThought may move backwards due to their unpredictable rate ups and declines at the phone interviews. They have a very sellable FE product except they are SO strict on the underwriting compared to the others.

JD do you work under Travis at EFES? Are you with them for the lead program?

Yes, I have been on the EFES lead program for over 4 years and Travis is my direct upline.

As for the question above about 5 Star they have beter rates than AmCon and they don't do an Rx check. They are more liberal than AmCon for diabetics and they take the Direct Express card. Also, I don't have to do a POS with them. It's available if you want to do it but not required. They will not contact the client to do one if you don't do it at POS. The problems with 5 Star are that you just have to hope they pay you correctly because you need an accounting degree to figure out their commission statements if you can even get to them on line. Also you have to hope the policies are issued because you sure can't track business on the website or get any kind of help if you need to call them and heaven forbid you need to change an address, bank account or beneficiary.

If they were under the under the EFES umbrella they would jump up to my number 2 company to use behind RNA.

I only get leads from EFES so it's not proper to write EFES lead business on a non EFES company. I only use 5 Star now for people that can't get approved with one of my EFES companies and many times the people I put with 5 Star have already been declined by one of my other companies.

Have you guys ever tried upping "apptivity" by cross-selling grandkid Settlers policies?

I could see how one could increase average commissions substantially over time with selling 10-pay whole life policies on grandkids.

I sell quite a few grand child policies and i almost always use use RNA's 20 pay. I have used Mon's 10 pay a couple of times.

If Settlers has a good deal for the grandkids, why not write it?

JD -- at what point do you offer G'kid policies? After the FE sale? Or during the fact-finding session?

Whenever the person brings it up. I have never been the one to broach the subject. Most of the time it begins with, "do you have anything for my grandkids?". The rest are usually on replacements. When they bring their policy in for me to look at there will be 2 or 3 grandkid policies in the pile. I do ask then if they want me to take a look at those.

I have gone to personally delivering my policies now and the grandkids or other family member policies seem to come up quite often at policy delivery. I wrote two one day this week at policy delivery. One was for $102/mo and the other was for $20/mo. Same house. One on the wife and the other was the grandson.

Royal Neighbors...I don't bother with Foresters, I just replace them:1wink:
I have Oxford but rarely use them. I like Settlers for the 10pay and Monumental for certain cases like COPD. I aslo Like ACL for no rx.

Settlers rates on the younger ones is better then Monumentals.

I forgot to mention that I have Oxford. Never use them is why I forgot. I don't have Settlers so I don't know their rates.
