Does anyone have info about the commissions FMO companies are making. I am a ICA with SecureHorizons and will make the same as FMO agents. Just curious.

I believe about $100.

What's an ICA?

Supposedly Independent/Career Agent. You are independent, but sign an exclusive contract with Secure Horizons, usually for a limited time, such as the AEP. It pays a bit more than street commission (at least they did last year) and promise you leads in return for exclusive sale of those leads.

You might want to be careful... some on this forum reported that they got the shaft with this ICA contract last year.

I went to the presentation last year but turned down the offer, since the product was not competitive in my area. I am very glad I didn't sign up.

All depends how competitive the plan is for your area.

AARP is one of the worst MA plans here, and if it was not for the AARP logo, I do not think they would have any enrollments.

You are so correct with this statement . I am an ICA with them and we only have one MAIN competitor (Healthspring). This is part of why people get so confused with these plans. A lot of individuals do not understand that one plan may be great in one county, but horrible in another county in the same state.

I am looking to go independent in the senior market, but guess I will wait until after March. I have been trying to focus on my individual health sales and not Medicare products.

In regards to being an ICA, I signed a contract that says I can't sale another companies "medicare products". I am contracted with Humana who actually does offer medicare products in my area, but I am not selling any of those, I am just selling ind. and family plans.

Michellea, I signed a similar agreement with Healthspring here in Illinois. I think you have little competition there, since that is the smallest market for HS out of the 5 states they operate in.

Ken --- According to Humana... $200. According to some FMOs, $50-$100. What is interesting is that if Humana's VP O'Toole is telling the truth... GAs are getting about 4% of the capitation rate of $8450. Do the math. But that is Humana....

Your question asks "what are FMO's making?" perhaps you mean what are FMO agents making? If that is what you want to know, most are paying $500 street. Humana, of course pays much less.
