How to break in?

Hello,

I am new here if you can't tell by my post count;)

I have an extensive sales background in a different industry and would really like to break into selling insurance.

Here is my problem; at this point, I make enough money that it is tough to take a paycut during the transition period from my old career to my new one.

Are there any companies that would let you go part time until you are earning enough to make the leap?

BTW I am in Canada if that makes a difference.

Thanks,

Russ

I would not make any decisions until you spoke to several Canadian agents. Not the marketing companies or general agents but real agents who sell for a living. What may work here may not even exist or be illegal in Canada.

If you are "making enough money" now I would do one hell of a lot of research before "giving up your day job".

If you work for yourself, you can do it part time, if you work for an agency, you can do it part time, there are agents who submit a few policies a year as their main line of business isn't health, and work for agencies.

If you work for your self you create you own hours. What do you do for a living now. Why did you choose insurance to get into?

I am a sales manager with a Fortune 100 in a completely different industry.

I am looking at the insurance industry because I feel that the vast majority of people need financial help and I would like to hlp those that I can.

Thanks,

Russ

Working for myself and being able to set some of my own hours is partly why I was interested in this career. The other part is because I can wrap my mind around the concept of insurance. It's getting harder for me to wrap my mind around much these days... but that's another thread...
