How to Sell Property and Casualty Insurance Door-To-Door in a Residential Neighborhood.

I am brand new to the insurance industry and would greatly appreciate any tips on how to successfully sell home and auto insurance door to door. I have successfully sold Pest Control, Satellite TV and Verizon Fios door to door but have no idea how to approach P&C on the doors. Have any of you tried shopping out homeowners insurance on the doors with an iPad or laptop computer? Does anyone have a sales script that they use for door knocking?

I plan to offer P&C from insurance companies such as SafeCo, Travelers, Progressive, ASI, The Hartford, Allied and MetLife. Any advice on what to say on the doors and how to go about collecting necessary information to close some deals would be greatly appreciated.

Did the same thing for a while. Saw some reasonable success however, looking back, it was a time waster in my personal opinion being it does not yield as much as calling and networking.. The challenge door to door is in the attention grabber, your door approach may be no different in the consumers eye than the 3state farm commercials they saw in the last 10 minutes watching tv. A differentiating statement is handy, I suggest if you do knock doors to simply introduce yourself and strike up conversation... There you will find info like teen drivers, past claims, service issues etc. good luck!
