How Would You Handle This?

Recently, I've noticed that I had about 6 FE policies lapse.

When I check my sales reports it had NSF on the comments.
I called the company which is a fraternal company and asked if the sent a copy of the replacement forms to the agent when a policy is replaced. They told me only if the Life policy is over $250,000 or a $25,000 annuity. This is for FE so the answer was no. He did tell me that he would bring it up in the next manager meeting.

So, I started calling back all my lapsed policies and found out so far that 3 were replaced. Still trying to get a hold of the other 3 and I'm pretty sure he's been in there. One of the policies was replaced by coverage at work and I couldn't do anything with. The other two were replaced by the same agent from another company. I never received any notice of replacement.

When I spoke to the two customers, he told them the company was not solid and was owned by a group of members and that the prices and face amonts were not guaranteed. He signed them up for the same face value with another company that was a few dollars a month more. Not in the best interest of the customer.

I don't know if he left replacement forms with them but I will find out next week as I have apointments with them.

When I go back, I will document every thing they say and check for replacemenet forms. I may even have them sign something if they are willing as to what he said.

If it keeps up thinking about taking it to the Insurace Commission and report it. My question is... How serious do they take something like this? or will they just slap him on the wrist.

This is the same guy I had a problem with in a previous post.
I had an appointment set to replace one his policies and he was waiting at the house for me when I got there.

I do go over with ever customer before I leave that it is a whole life policy, the permiums will never change, the face value will never decrease, it will build cash vallue and cannot be cancelled. I tell them if anyone tries to replace the policy it is probably not in their best interest and to call me to discuss it before they do anything.

I don't care if someone replaces a policy if it is done ethically and in the best interest of the customer. When I run into him, I know what he carries and I tell them it is a good company but their are alot of better choices. As a matter of fact I just replaced one his the other day. He had a customer on a graded plan and I was able to get them $2,000 more in coverage at about $3 cheaper with first day coverage ($588 in premium).

I just hate people that operate this way and have to lie get a sale because they can't sell.

Many thanks

Do you also offer to sell them a non-fraternal company? Give them choices. Some people can get scared off of a fraternal pretty quickly if an agent points out the difference. You need to be the guy who points it out and let them choose what they want. They are apparently willing to pay a couple of bucks more for a non-fraternal.

Not necessarily true and that may be just the opening he needs.. If it is a fraternal plan, it is not a policy but is a certificate.. It is possible that the company may levy an assessment in the future.. Likely? No .. but possible. Ownership by members? That's true but then as certificate holders they are the members which means they are the owners.. I would point that out to them.. The pride of ownership may be enough to prompt to keep the plan you wrote. Also, If I were you I would follow Newby's advice when I made a presentation.

I stay on top of my business. If there is a missed draft I call them imeidately.

I don;t get replaced very often. I can't even remember the last time I got replaced. I do have clients run out of money and cancel. They are not goling elsewhere, they ae just going without coveage.

The first thing I do every morning is check every website for my business. Many times I call a company about doing a redraft and they don't even know that there was a problem.

You could call the insurance department. And if you're lucky and if you push hard they could call the agent to inquire about the case that you are concerned about. Bottom line. Nothing will happen to him, and they will just document it. However, the phone call could scare him and get him thinking twice, which may serve your purpose.

Or what I would do. Is call from an unknown number. Pose as someone from the insurance department and you're doing an investigation, and really pick his brain about the cases. This would really scare him, I know it would me.

Is this person and independent or working under another agent? If they are working for someone or with someone else they may not be aware of these tactics or lack of replacement forms. This kind of s**t sticks.

Let us know what happens AFTER you see WHAT these clients actually, got....

Many times clients don't/can't do a great job of explaining HOW IT WENT DOWN.....

Lot of times folks just 'can't say NO.....to a 'talented salesperson' that's 'presenting' a scenario... because
AT THAT MOMENT EVERYTHING SOUNDED LIKE IT MADE SENSE......
HE is an EXPERT(they're thinking) and the pot roast IS getting COLD.

Then they buy a vacuum from the NEXT guy..........
(not saying that happened here BUT......... it does happen that people buy, AGAIN from the last guy in.....
cause they're mooches and then, they can't articulate WHY they switched, so they say SOMETHING not necessarily 100% accurate...remember Jim likes his the pot roast).

You did say that you and this guy are going back and forth:
like Richard Dreyfuss and Danny Devito in 'Tin Men'....so let us know if one of you steals the others wife ;):D
