I am confused about this profession

Thank you all for your comments, I genuinely appreciate it. I will update you all to tell you where I end up. I am determined to get a job that will be a good fit for me. Thank you for the support. And things to read, and watch.

As an Agent, you are pretty much a business owner. As a business owner, you make your own money, you earn your keep. At this point in your life, you are not ready yet because you are looking for a job. You can still work in the industry but not as an Agent. You can be an assistant and do office work and get an hourly wage.

When I started in this business, it was by accident. I had worked in banking and trained/supervised/managed call centers for most of my adult life.

When my last job ended due to me saying things that I regret in frustration and anger (although two weeks later I felt somewhat vindicated in that the head office fired the two people that were causing the issue in the first place), I saw an opportunity to get my insurance license.

I don't regret it. Although I am no longer on the sales side of things, I still work in the industry. It's not that the companies are difficult, it's just that they are mysterious. Underwriting can change overnight. Someone undercuts you for a sale, marketing can be confusing.

You spend more time educating than actually making a living. Find what interests you and become an expert in that 1 thing. The rest will follow. You are NOT going to reinvent the wheel so don't even try.

Try to do right. Everything else will fall into place.
