I thought whales are a protected species by international agreement with the exception of Japan and Norway.

I watched the current season on Animal Planet. The last episode was last week. Maybe it will be shown on another network?
Lot of action this year. The Ady Gil,
Japanese Whalers Ram Sea Shepherd Ship Ady Gil - Sea Shepherd
one of the Sea Shepherds ships, was rammed by a Jap harpoon ship and sunk. The season ended with the captain of the Ady Gil doing a night boarding of the same harpoon ship and confronting the captain that ram/sunk his ship.
