Naturally, The reps experience matters.:skeptical: However," the buyer has a pre concieved notion as to who he or she is going to meet with."

It might matter to a few...but as long as you're confident and comfortable with your knowledge, it should have little affect. I was 20 years old when I started selling Medicare Supplements in the early 70's and I don't recall my age hurting me.:twitchy:

I agree, I started selling insurance when I was 27 and am now 69.. Can't tell that being young or old has ever made any difference. Of course, I do let them know arrangements have been made for their business to be taken care in case I kick the bucket before they are ready.. ;)

Talent and Maturity... can make a big difference... but the salesman/agent, is the one who can either cut it .... or not...

Age is a relative thing being younger can help or hurt in any given situation. One person may want to do business with you because you remind them of their grandson. Another may thing you are a young smart alec whippersnapper. Everything is relative. I thing being really young is more of a disadvantage if you are talking upper end market and large amounts of money.

I started at 23 years old. Never looked back after my first few years. I sold 200+ life policies/year in the 80's and i was in my 20's. I found that a majority of my customers were always about 15-20 years older than me.

Today in my 50's i sell to people that are from 50-75. That spread has only gotten closer to my own age and I still sell 200+ Life policies/year. Only difference is that the premiums are much larger as I sell Life Insurance to the middle class and not the typical Low Income buyer.

Age is only what you make it. Make it a problem and you will have one. Confidence in you product and people skills is all you need. Age does not matter.
