You know sometimes some agents can be morons. I kick a referral to an agent in Nebraska after doing the research and telling the potential client to make him sell you plan X with company Y. I got the agent's information from a FMO in Nebraska I do business with. Well the greedy jackass sold him plan F with Cont. Travelers at about $600/year more than what the MOO plan would have been.

That guy, a relative of one of my local clients, was in town today. Stopped in and wanted to say hi and thanks for the help. He "thought" the agent did what I suggested... trusting sort he is.

When I found out how he got screwed we decided to get licensed in Nebraska and write him a UOO plan N for about half price of what ContTrave renewals probably would have been.

Some agents can be morons... Screw the clients around and you lose them... and potential referrals.

Absolutely! On my favorites was when a Primerica rep was telling me how great Primerica was. I asked him why it was so great and he said that they have the best products available. Here's the punchline, I asked him if he knew anything about Return Of Premium and he said "What's that?"

Primerica is awesome! Buy term and invest the rest.. HA HA!

What a great pyramid scheme. It never fails to see agencies or agents that just don't have the clients best interest in mind, and it always comes out in the end somehow.

Thats going to be tough selling that UOO "N"plan in Nebraska considering it is the Mutual Of Omaha branded supp sold in Nebraska.

And now to a more serious problem. This reminds me of when an ethically challenged agent in this forum posted that he had referred a client to someone he didnt even know on this forum. And Oh and how was "Rick" er I mean "Greensky" put out that the rookie agent trained only by "Frankie" over a mere 2 hour phone call went and assed up the referral gave to him. This is no different here "Gordon". You dont call up your broker and have him refer an agent to your client. As we all know almost all those brokers and the guys working for them dont know squat about this business other then to sit in an office all day and tell us how to sell. Those flunkies sitting in those brokers offices are doing that job because they cant sell in real life to save their lives. To let one of those brokers flunkies pick an agent for your client is a joke. A referral is supposed to be someone you personally know well and can vouch for. If you dont someone in the area where someone lives you are supposed to be honest and tell them that. The client would much rather you be honest and tell them you dont know anyone then for you to send them blindly into a dark alley.:1arghh:

I am not quite sure how Gordon will respond to this, but I can tell you this much that will never happen again. We have people seeking our services from two states that we were not licensed in. So that is why we unfortunately had to farm them out. We as of Thursday, due to the disappointing news from the gentleman that Gordon was talking about, we have taken the bull by the horns and have non-res. licenses in Iowa and Nebraska. We will gain those clients back and they will be under our umbrella.
