Hello, I am new here as well as new to the insurance world. Honestly I never would have thought that I would be working in insurance but after an accident I can no longer do the profession I went to college for so here I am. I am through with my pre-license class for life and health and I have to take my proctor exam and licensing exam shortly. I have a job lined up as soon as I get my license but I'm worried that I may not be ready for this exam. I have been made to take this class in less than a week so I can try to get licensed and started next week. I just hope I remember enough to pass. Are there any tips for passing? Also, will all the content make more sense and mesh easier once I'm actually working with the polices and everything instead of just reading about them? Thanks- ajrath1027

Yeah. Answer the questions you are sure of first. Mark the questions for follow up on the ones you are not. Come back and use process of elimination on the multiple choices. Typically your first instinct is the correct answer. Yes to the second question too.

Thank you! I greatly appreciate the help. I feel more confident knowing that should get easier. I plan to take my proctor tomorrow and schedule my licensing exam after I am finished. Wish me luck!

Welcome to the forum. What exam are you sitting for? What company are you starting with? What part of KY are you from?

I am from Alexandria KY and I will be working for Western & Southern Life. I will be working out of their Beechmont office and my soon to be boss says that it should be good that I'll be living in KY because she doesn't have many people in that area working for her yet. I am studying for the life and health exam and I am probably going to take my proctor tomorrow. It's nice that they do walk ins for the proctor. The good news is I just took a practice exam and scored an 82% and I haven't hit the books as hard as I want to today so I know I can bring that score up. Thank you everyone for the feedback. I'm glad to be here.

Western Southern offers good very structured training so in my opinion it is not a bad place to start. Good luck on the exam and on the career. What type of work did you do before?

I used to be a technician at a local garage. I went to school at the University of Northwestern Ohio and graduated with an associates degree. I worked in the automotive field for about 7 years before I messed up my back. I am only 23 years old and my doctor basically told me to look for a new career type.

Western and Southern is very overpriced so you won't be competitive but they may offer good training?

The office in Evansville, In tried to hire me a few years ago and they semed clueless about the business when I talked to them. They were all about my "warm market" and smacked of AmGen's "Project 100" talk to me.

Still nothing wrong with being captive at first to learn the ropes before striking out on your own.

I wish you were in my part of Ky to put some W&S policies out there. :1wink:

But really, good luck with it and keep an open mind. Don't drink the kool aid.

Thanks for the input, hopefully this will be somewhere I can learn and build my skills. I appreciate the heads up but I'm still going into it with an open mind of course. Thanks again.
