I'm Shocked! My first Auto Quote

Over time, you learn to assess the risk first, then quote the appropriate carriers. quoters that can quote multiple carriers at once are helpful, till you get to the end and need to figure out whether a risk is acceptable to a carrier or not. it is very important.

I just decided to shop my auto insurance here in Florida. I had AAA Auto Club South and was paying real close to $1,200 per year for my car. I had 100/300 and all the other bells and whistles. I tried Geico and they were very expensive.

Well anyway, I ended up getting the exact same coverage with the Travelers for a little over $700 per year. They sent me my policy and everything. It is all the same limits and coverages as AAA was. I'm pretty stoked about the savings. I was with AAA for the last 3 years. I don't understand how the spread could be so big. They shopped me through several companies according to the lady on the phone and she said 'WOW Travelers is very good for you. Nothing else even comes close."

It is hard to determine the answer off of just one quote. You will soon discover the answer once you complete several more quotes.

Hey, take the deal when you can get it. Travelers is hungry right now and is market driven. In a few years they'll pull the plug on the new program they just wrote you in and you'll be shopping again! But what the heck, they're a solid company and their agressive underpricing is a "plus" for you....for now;)

I found all these very interesting, its so simple but yet we tend to underrate or ignore it so many times in our quest to get the best auto insurance quotes for our vehicles. I hope you won't make that mistake again.

Travelers is very competitive right now, so you will see them towards the top everytime. I use a comparative rater, and they win at least 50% of the time. Nationwide has now creeped up to the top since they had a rate decrease in June. Safeco and Mercury are also fairly competitive. Like someone else said though you need to place risks in the markets that they belong or you will not have a happy carrier. In other words keep non-standard customers in non-standard carriers. Its always a good idea to get some training in with each carrier before you start selling too many, so you know their "appetite." Travelers for example is always having training and if your lucky it will be one on one and you can get through it very quickly. I had one on one training with Travelers for their Umbrella product and it was over within 10 minutes.

EDIT: Didn't know this was an older thread when I posted, How are you doing with auto insurance?

There are so many variables, age, tickets, credit, zip code, vehicle symbol, etc. Also rates are going to crazy in Florida, because I believe they are a No-fault state....

Also Travelers has a good niche right now in your market.. But, they sometimes can be all over the place...
