This is a good resource for information on the development of the exchange.

I attached the Dec. Issue.

and they also did not count on agents reading the benefits and finding markets for it like Maternity Coverage.....why these plans cover Maternity is beyond me...and being pregnant is a preexisting condition ..with a little internet marketing have been getting 1 to 2 calls a day about the Maternity Coverage....if the govt. wants to be in the baby making business I will sure help them at $100 bucks a pop..........

"As of March 31, 2011, just 18,313 people were enrolled
nationally in PCIPs, which were designed to serve as
a bridge for people who can't otherwise find health
coverage.
"They found out very quickly that people just
were not enrolling in those plans and they had to go
back to the drawing board. [HHS] came up with a
pretty fair compensation system," he says. In May,
HHS announced that beginning in the fall, insurance
agents and brokers would be eligible for an incentive
of $100 for each member they successfully enroll
in
a federally operated PCIP."

I think this article really lean towards there being no exchange being set up.

In my state they are estimating up to $85 million a year to admin it. Where is that money going to come from?

Go into a larger state like Cali. No way they can come up with the money to admin that.

The gov. exchange is going to crash and burn.

We will have private exchanges set up by the carriers.

"We will have private exchanges set up by the carriers."

As long as there are links to applications that brokers can use...and these Exchanges do not get love from Google (and others)...all will be well.

we already have private exchanges.. just google health insurance quote and there you have it. biggest issue for me right now is compensation for agents and brokers who assist those purchasing inside the exchange and tax subsidies for those who purchase outside the exchanges. One thing for certain... 2014 is going to be a complete cluster****

InsureBlog: No Subsidy For You

Section 1311 of ObamaCare instructs state governments to set up an exchange. If a state refuses, Section 1321 lets the federal government establish an exchange in the state.

Yet ObamaCare states that the tax credit is available to people who are enrolled in an "an exchange established by the state under (Section) 1311." It makes no mention of people enrolled in federal exchanges being eligible for the tax credit.

"just google health insurance quote and there you have it"

Yea...there it is. I ran a quote and the first plans they show are ones I would not offer to clients. Fortunately, my traffic is still high but I will need to adjust to this and explain to prospects that they need to contact me after they visit that site.

The private exchanges are being formed as we speak by carriers like Wellpoint, UHC, & the publicly traded Brokerage AON.

UHC already has an active platform. It's called one source or something like that. You have to have large group production with them to sell it. I have heard from all the carriers that they can not compete with that plan.

Wellpoint will launch in 2013. They recently purchased a company that has the platform established.

These private exchanges should be broker friendly. If you produce then there should be no problem with selling and being comp on those plans.

It's seems like everyone is getting a moderator title on the forum these days. Good choices from what I've seen. Are there any special requirements to get his title? Do you get paid to be a moderator?

Not interested, just curious.
