I'm excited to be on this forum and learn more about the insurance business. I'm currently an active duty Army officer and my goal is to start selling insurance part-time while I transition out (I owe the Army another year). My goal is to learn more about this industry and hone my skills so I can really hit the ground running once I'm out.

They Army's moving us to Fort Hood, TX so I'll be getting my license there to start. Based on what I've read so far it sounds like it's best to focus in one area to start and so I'm still trying to figure out if I should focus on FE or MedSupps and who to contract through.

It's been interesting reading the posts on here and I look forward to learning more from you all.

Thanks,
Ryan

I am two hours south of Killeen, Texas where Fort Hood is. In Texas, being 2 hours away is considered next door. Feel free to call me and we can chat.

I work primarily in the FE market and know it well. Let me know if you want my help. Being in my backyard can have its advantages.

Thank you for your service Army Guy. I spent some quality time at Fort Hood back in the early 80's.

Do yourself a favor and take Spur City (Matt) up on his offer. He has broad experience from New York Life to the smallest of Final Expense carrier.

Nobody in Texas can help you like he can.

Thank you Sir! I'm definitely going to take Matt up on his offer.

Spur, I'm curious, What other markets are you involved in?

Not very many, but it's by design. I like to have a small squad because I am in the field 5 days a week and very busy. I feel that in order to benefit anyone on my squad I need to be able to answer my phone and answer questions while my guys are in the house with a prospect or whether it's 11pm at night and they need to talk about their days experiences.

Texas, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Florida to name some though.
