Hi everyone im new to insurance i just got my P&C license im in LA California i nee help with the next step whats the best thing to do now what companies do i apply or how do i find a job and some info please someone give me good advice im looking to make this my long term career

thanks

Let me start by asking you a question.....

What made you get your P&C license? Knowing that will help with the answer to many of your questions.

For P&C, the easiest start is just go to all of the local P&C offices and talk to the agent at the office. He'll let you know if he has anything open or he'll at least get you pointed in the right direction.

It's hard (and getting harder) to just wake up one day and become a P&C agent, opening an agency and getting very far. There are still some great opportunities, but you'll need a bit of experience to understand them.

thanks for the reply couple people told me its a good career theirs always place to grow and i like the business just don't know where to find the job

You say you like the business. Does this mean you have experience? Since you just got your license I'm assuming you don't.

To get training you need to work at an existing agency. As djs mentioned, start asking your local agencies if they will hire you for service work while you learn.

i got my license couple months ago and volunteerd at some agency but i stopped going because it was too far from home now im looking to find a near by place to get good training and learn about all the details i just want a advice is it better ti work with small agency or work with big company like farmers or state farm etc.... because i know with big companies you need to sell to get hired or something like that

My advice? Don't volunteer. Get paid for what you do when you work for a business that is in business to make money.

Volunteer for community stuff.

The problem is a lot of agency's want someone with experience and don't want to train I'm just wondering how do everyone else get started I'm young and want start where I make it a long term because most places want you to bring your family members to sign up and that's not gone work for me

From what I've gathered on this forum, you could just go with being a captive with a big company to get their training, and then decide what you want to do. That's what I have done somewhat as I'm new too.

While it's not pure training, I enjoy listening to Brian Tracy's "The Psychology of Selling". It's very informative and motivating.

Good luck!
