Just Layed Off Today.Ready to Strike Out on My Own

Re: Just Layed Off Today...ready to Strike Out on My Own

ABC / Joshua77,

Please call me or email me. I would like to help. I believe this is a great time to enter the Health Insurance industry.

Our agency is not down... We were flat for several months after the presidential election due to uncertainty about healthcare reform, but picked up dramatically this summer when Obama announced that it would take until at least 2013-2014 for any reform measures to take hold. We have been growing ever since.

With the right leads and the right products, you can sell even during the toughest of times. We have tools to assist you with both.

I'll show you our agent newsletter where our agents are producing every week. Seeing is believing... lol

I look forward to speaking with you...

Scott,

Do you sell or recruit?

Re: Just Layed Off Today...ready to Strike Out on My Own

Mostly recruiting these days. I have been in the industry for 15 years. Sold for the first 10 years and began building Health Choice One in 2002. It's not necessary for agents to join our agency in order to receive advice or counsel from me. I enjoy helping others, especially new agents just getting into our industry.

If an agent is curious about what our agency does after I speak with them or they want to ask questions about becoming a Health Choice One broker, that's fine, but in many cases they just need a little direction and then they're all set…and off they go. I'm happy to answer their questions and lead them in the direction that best suits them in either case.

:o)

Re: Just Layed Off Today...ready to Strike Out on My Own

My advice would be to specialize in one area to start; become an expert at that niche and then add on later.
Being all things to all people (trying to be) is one of the main reasons people fail in this business.
I also think this is great advice. You will get to know your client base, be a credible expert, and actually have an easier time expanding later.

As an aside to the OP, I don't think there is one "type' of personality that can do well in this business. While there are plenty who fit the stereotype of outgoing extroverts, I've seen quieter types learn to do well too.

I think the key is to get your main marketing method to fit your personality.

By this, do you mean just life, or just health? Because I "assumed" they would compliment each other and go hand and hand. Or do you mean Don't try Life, Health, AND P&C?

Also, how can you tell what kind of marketing fits your personality?

uh, i would try to get another job like you had .... I would think you would be gold to other companies ... why do you want the stress of commission ... unless you just need a lot of money like me (i have high expenses). If that's the case, then it may be worth it. I don't know much about health insurance but you might want to start with Med Sups since it's medicare season ... a good place to get your feet wet ... daytona Guy and Frank Statsny and Robliano are all Med Sup experts ... maybe??? I don't know .. just trying to help :)
