BlockO...don't take offense but with carriers like progressive and omni it sounds like you write substandard auto. That does not make your agency an attractive match for a preferred company...unless you can show them you're transitioning to a preferred agency.
Instead of applying for appointments you need to put together an aggressive marketing plan and then arrange a face to face meeting with a company marketing rep. to discuss if they want to get on board with an aggressive marketer. The last three A+ carriers I contracted with all gave me "protection" from appointing other agents for at least a 12 month period. I showed them our program, guaranteed that they would be quoted on every risk and told them they would get the business they earned...no premium commitments.
