Looking to Expand into P&C

Hey All,
I'm looking for advice on stepping into the P&C world, I currently have a growing Benefits Agency and want to hedge my bets and expand into P&C.

Any suggestion for a good way to begin??

Where are you located and how heavily are you trying to get into it? Is it something that will be supplemental for your customers or is it something you might focus on?

There is a lot more service work than benefits brokers anticipate.

The Term PC is very broad. I agree with the previous poster about being aware of your demographic. I would suggest researching what type of companies are in your territory.

With commercial unlike personal there is a finite number of companies to prospect and a select few companies that can handle them. Making a plan of attack early on can prevent you spending precious time pursuing non-ideal risks. IE: why prospect daycares if you carriers cant get competitive rates.

Making a plan early on can save you a lot of wasted time and resources. This TYPICALLY takes trial and error to discover... so find someone that already did it. get a mentor!!! biggest piece of advice I can give you. Find the best producer and replicate what they are doing.
