UHC ( Secure Horizons ) is not filling with CMS in the District of Columbia for 2010, which means all their members that are not enrolled in another plan automatically goes back to original medicare come Jan 01 2010. My renewal has snow balled to about $3,000/ month, and I am loosing all that come Jan.

I need to start replacing them asap, medd supp is not an option, these are mostly dual eligibles. Does anyone know which carrier is going to be in DC for 2010 ? I have checked medicare.gov, it still has 2009 info.

Aetna usually has pretty decent product there too. There may be a reason why UHC is pulling out and other carriers may follow suit.

Well then, I imagine you have many on the Evercare program, right? I hear that co's are losing money on those SNP's...yet I thought they were heavily subsidized by the gov't to provide that. Other states will follow .

Thanks for sharing that...and a caveat to all who think you will build up great renewals in this market. Just as you accumulate some business the NORTH WIND blows it down.

What was that definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over? Learn other products...better yet, learn another craft, like goat-herding.

When would you normally sell a dual-eligible product? Most of the people I have seen that are dual eligible don't have a spend down to meet so, the co-pays weren't worth it.

Maybe Bravo, I'll call a friend of mine and see if they'll be in DC with a dual product in 2010. Bravo is a pretty good plan, from what I've heard, but I haven't looked at it.

Thanks a bunch

When they are Medicare/Medicaid. The Product has 0 premium and 0 copays, if they stay in network. They also get some additional benefits that original medicare doesn't offer them.

Bravo Select is the way to go with the duals in DC. $200/quarter in dental, $1400/year in hearing, silversneakers program, and the big catch for the duals is $69 monthly allowance in their carepack which is full of OTC options. Let me know if you're interested and i can tell you more.
