Loosing $3,000/momth in MA Renewals

Since UHC has had a pitiful history of low renewals, you have got to be one hell of a sales"person". Anyone with a UHC renewal base of $3K is not your average agent. And to sell mostly SNP's, you're a very patient agent. SNP's are some of the most service intensive plan's you'll ever meet.

In your opinion, do you think these people will be better off on what ever DC offers their Dual's?

This example is a good reason why I don't fool with MA plans any more.
What example?

To me, true duals, that is QMB or SLMB, are a perfect fit, and maybe one of the few best fits, for MAPD plans. To my knowledge, duals aren't candidates at all for med supps, and MA plans can give them a lot of things that original medicare combined with medicaid and a PDP can't.

I'm sure he meant the example of them leaving the service area.

I understand the point very well. I've done over 700 MA plans since '06. More than half have been duals and more than half of that number have been full medi/medi duals.

The poster that said that they are jigh maintenance for the agent hit the nail on the head. Now, an agent can only make $200 for enrolling someone and hope to get $200 more later if the person has never been in a plan before. The best thing for the agent was the renewals for all that maintenance work. When a plan leaves the area, so goes the agent renewals.

I agree that they are excellent plans for the medi/medi. loved doing them and I did a lot of them.

Stuff like what's been described in this thread is why I, also, don't do MA plans anymore. I also got almost $3000 in MA renewals this month from Wellcare and would have been over $3000 if Parker and Asses were not stealing my Coventry renewals. Both of those are ending their plans here on Dec. 31 and my renewals along with them.

These plans are too much work and too time consuming for $200.

I was just perusing my new UHC connextions. Looking over their agent tipsheet it looks like they have expanded the classes for election.

For example, we now have variations of dual eligible...full and partial, lost eligibility; those losing group cov, cost plans, pace, and another 20 or so definitions. Looks like another booklet to carry just for those terms so you can plug it right.

Pardon me...all this bureaucracy for an agent on commission? More like a census survey.

Wonder what else is complicated?

Bravo Select is the way to go with the duals in DC. $200/quarter in dental, $1400/year in hearing, silversneakers program, and the big catch for the duals is $69 monthly allowance in their carepack which is full of OTC options. Let me know if you're interested and i can tell you more.

DC has a huge medicare /medicaid population, so you're able to enroll year round. I don't know what kind of SNP plan you market, but there is nothing service intensive about the Evecare plan. They pay 0 copay for everything, $1.10 for generic and $3.20 for brand name and all the community clinics accept them, which is where most of this folks go to get care.

I really can't speak for any other SNP plan until I see what they offer.

Maybe Bravo, I'll call a friend of mine and see if they'll be in DC with a dual product in 2010. Bravo is a pretty good plan, from what I've heard, but I haven't looked at it.

I put in my paperwork for Bravo last week. The folks that I talked with over there were real sharp and sounds like they know their markets well. I'm giving out street contracts as soon as my contract come back if anyone is interested. All direct pay from the carrier.
