Hey guys- I was wondering if there are any agents here from Louisiana, espec. from south Louisiana? If so, do you sell major meds, p/c, or term life?

Sell mostly med supps, do a few term here and there. Getting into final expense and annuities. I'm from around the Lake Charles area where are you from?

My mentor lives in Monroe, I was visiting him last week. What products do you market?

I'd like to find an agent to start an aliance. I'm asked if I sell, or do I know a good company that sells major meds and other products often. I'd like to be able to refer them to a local agent, that can do the same for me when they come across products I sell. I sell disability, acc. and sickness, small whole life, and critical illness and cancer.

I have been captive with BCBSLA for a while, tried to go it on my own for the last few months and it has been a real eye opener !!!!!
More money,,yes, but chasing myself around in circles trying to learn all the new products, marketing myself, getting appointed etc. Can most definitely be done but I am a mom first and my parents are going downhill fast, so I am going back to BC July 1st. as a captive. Only problem there is you only have 1 bullet in your gun and constantly have people wanting and needing products that you are unable to sell them OUCH !!!
Who is your mentor maybe I know him, her?
Tell me more about yourselves maybe we can help each other out.

amerchant7,

Welcome to the forum.

Southeast LA here, mainly focusing on Med Supps. (I used to live in Central Louisiana, hence the screen name.)

There is another agent in my area who occasionally posts here who sells major meds, group, etc. But since you said "South Louisiana" I assume you're not in the Greater New Orleans Area.

There was another agent in the senior market from the Monroe area, but I haven't seen him post anything on the forum in a few years.

If you haven't already, I would encourage all to join LinkedIN and join this site's group there. That will make networking much easier, especially for those new to the forum who cannot PM yet, etc.

I have several agents that area. Does the agent have to see your clients face to face or will the phone and desktop share be sufficient.

Thanks Cenla, I'll check that out. I'm mostly in the Lafayette/Broussard area. I do go as far as Morgan City.

My clients or prospects would be your customers once I refered them to you. However you do your transactions would be sufficient. I do have to see my customers face to face.
