Advice on the top carrier plans available. Trying to see if a ltc plan for myself will be better than the ltc rider on my life policy. It guarantees 5K/month up to 250K with a 90 day wait if unable to perform 2 of the six activities of daily living. Will also pay for at home assistance. Not sure if this is adequate so I'm looking for advice.

Thanks. Age 56——Absolutely an inflation adjusted (compound inflation of 3%, 4% or 5%) LTC policy will be a significantly better insurance policy for you than a life insurance policy with an accelerated death benefit rider. Your need for care might be 25-35 years from now.

Good traditional LTC policies for men can be purchased through Mutual of Omaha.

Good hybrid policies for men can be purchased through Securian, Pacific Life and Lincoln. Depending upon your state of residence.

If you truly want a long term care plan buy a strong monthly benefit with a strong compounded inflation factor.

    Good luck.
