LTCI Rate Increases for Women

New development....John Hancock going to gender-based pricing on 4/29/13. Approx 28% increase for women, 21% decrease for men, 1.5% increase for couples. Only applies to new business.

"21% decrease for men"

Are you sure they are lowering their existing rates for men?

That sounds a little far fetched to me.

It will be very interesting to see if others follow suit. Genworth didn't lower anything for men I don't believe.

Anything coming soon from other companies?
Thanks,
Bill

MOO and Trans also filed for gender specific pricing....3rd Q depending on the state. Everyone is fighting to be #2 or #3.....and want to leave GNW as #1. If they don't charge more for single women, they will inherit all the business....and they do not want it.

Hey....here's one for you.....why, since women use it more that men, would GNW charge more on a single female policy,. but on a lesbian couple, they would charge the same rate as a married couple or two gay men applying together? :skeptical:

Because it's a small proportion and avoids awkward situations. They know the majority of couples will include one man - two men would probably have the lowest claims.
