If my insider information is correct, this could hit the 1 million mark!

The real question for all of us is how do you get these $65 - 80. premium plans replaced with an health underwritten MedSupp? And how do you get some 75 year old to now pay $80. vs. your offer of $180 MedSupp premium. They may just go without... and of course this adds to the UNDER-insured!

You don't. Focus on those who have a med supp and want a better rate. Focus on those who have a MA but want out. Chasing a 75 yr old to get them to switch to your med supp from an MA is a waste of time. What did they have before the MA? Nothing. They were used to paying zero before the MA and when that MA goes to $65 many will likely drop it. That is not an opportunity to sell a med supp imho. It is a sign to move on to another prospect.

I do not waste my time on these:
  • ages 75+ who have never had a supp
  • incomes <12k because they either qualify for medicaid (and don't know it) or they will drop your med supp for the first MA that is presented to them

Yes, of course! I'll move on... But, not until after my best effort!

I'm getting tired of hearing senators and our president tell our seniors that "We are not cutting your benefits". Clearly, after $200 hundred billion dollars is cut from Medicare at least a quarter of our senior population will PAY MORE. They will still get their benefits. And many more will end up on Medicaid -- or they will get an insidious form of rationing that the underinsured often get.

I fight for my seniors and would be an absolute loser if I walked away from helping that 75 year old figure out her next move in the Medicare maze. :err:

I will not leave anyone behind -- much like our soldier's and their creed, never leave a fallen comrade, no one gets left behind. I will continue to fight for the senior population and go way beyond my commission check as my motivational factor. Guess that's why I get referals from hospitals, doctors and social workers! :)

I think you guys are losing sight of the fact that Medicare Supplement policies will be totally changed from Med Supp policies as we know them today. All existing plans that are not going to be eliminated will most likely be considered "new" and it wouldn't surprise me if premiums were recomputed for all of them. However, we don't know any of that now.

Any and all arguments may be a total waste of time trying to debate Med Supps as they are today. They ain't gonna stay that way very much longer.

No one, with the limited knowledge we have now, can say with any degree of certainty that X number of seniors are "going to be left behind" and have to pay more. It may just be that those with HMO's are going to be "left behind" and end up paying more.

Why don't we wait a little longer and then we will be able to have an intelligent discussion on the subject.

Never mind the pros and cons of Competitive Bidding for durrable medical supplies. Never mind the Competitive Bidding proposal for Medicare Advantage plans. Never mind the proposed MedSupp commission changes.

Why don't we wait a little longer and then we will be able to have an intelligent discussion on the subject.

It is all speculation and conjecture at this point.

At least you're a consistently passive birddog! :D:D:D

As with the rest of health reform, some people want to review and discuss as they see changes on the horizon and some want to freeze like a birddog and just say we cannot know anything until it happens so it is a complete waste of time.
