Mailers?

Can someone explain getting leads through mailers? Do you make and send them yourself? Or do you order them? Are they sent to any random person or are there rules on who they can be sent to? Is this a profitable option or a waste of money and time?

Some of these questions you need to take to the Lord.

For years I did them myself. I bought a laser printer and a paper folder. I went to the post office and set up my business reply mail account. I designed my own mailers and reply cards. I even built my own mailing lists the hard way using a database program and the old RL Polk directory. I had my wife and kids stuffing envelopes for me every Sunday night.

Several years later I learned about mail houses that do it all for you. Google mail houses like The Lead Connection TLC or Need-A-Lead and you will find places that do it all for you. You just pay them some money and they do everything else. You get your leads around three weeks later. It's WAY easier than doing it yourself on a small scale.

But even better, you should check to see if the upline that you have your contracts through has a price per lead program. That's even better because it takes the risk of bad lead returns off of you. If you are working with an upline that is serious about FE they will usually offer some version of that.

Yes direct mail leads are well worth the price. But make sure you are trained on how to work them. It sounds like you are brand new. Make your upline earn their over ride.

He will probably be better off doing drops in Michigan instead of fixed price.

You sound very green. In every one of your posts I see someone that needs to leave your current IMO and get with one of the IMO's here on the Forum that specialize in what you want to do....you've already heard from a few of them. You need training!

Im assuming the response rate is higher in MI? How do you know that?

It just is. Most of the northern states have fewer agents and better mail responses.

But there are some agents in Michigan that get low returns. There can still be popular areas that are over mailed.

Your best option is to get with an IMO that can give you a better contract level than where you are currently at, that has training and support, and can give you a fixed cost weekly lead order.

The bottom line is that if you have 20-30 new leads every week, you will always stay busy and that activity will keep your sales coming in.

This seems a bit extreme, but I was interested because of this thread.

I just received a "REGISTERED DOCUMENT: DO NOT DISCARD"

It is a two part pink card, Mailed in Detroit Michigan, with a reply to Dallas TX, for the benefit of an agent in my home town.

I am placing it in the shred bin.
