I'd like to know what is a perfect scenario for an agent to join a new company? Not so much a "carrier" but if you were to make a move...what are you looking for. What is it that would make you say. "YES...I NEED to join that group?" In fact, list pros AND cons. It might be nice for a change to have the vets sit back on this one at least for awhile, and lets see what is said before it gets hijacked and a poster is afraid to say what they REALLY think.

Perfect Scenario in random order:

* Independent over captive
* Free or low cost leads
* Company paid E&O
* Ability to use office if needed or free to use home office
* Street (non-assigned) commissions (above street if paying a portion of lead cost)
* Subsidized mailers
* Use of dialer system at low or no cost
* Company paid initial licensing for many, if not most, States
* All the training you could ever want at no charge

As far as the training goes....

Whats the best besides the obvious "hands on"? Video's, audio's, discussing regularly over the phone etc....

I think a combination of those training methods. I love watching training videos at 2AM...it helps me to (finally) get to sleep!

I think that having some one to ride along with for a day or two to watch and learn first hand would be of great value.

I would say that videos are a better source of training but I'm speaking for myself because I'm a visual person so that would be my preference.

Great list to which I would add the availability of a mentor especially one to go along on calls until the process is mastered.

Thats kind of along the lines of my thinking. I'm a "picture book" kind of guy. LOL I need step by step BUT not to much detail. Basically..."show" me what I need to know to get the job done. THEN...I'll figure the rest out later.

Not always the best way to go but I see so many agents over thinking and over analyzing EVERYTHING for ever. Then...they fizzle out.
