MA's Who Don't Pay Commish on "Internal Replacement"

I'm trying to collect information on MA carriers who do not pay a broker commission when they deem it to be an "internal replacement" of an existing MA (or other product) which is offered by that (same) carrier.

This could be either "like for like" (renewal commission) or "not like for like" (initial commission). This would not apply in cases where an enrollment is taken for the identical product. It would include cases where the MA carrier continues to pay the "old" broker, ie, keeps the BOR on the old plan with the new plan.

I'm not talking about paying as earned, I'm talking about flat out pays zero commission.

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post. Any documentation (broker alerts, etc.) would be very helpful!

The first company that comes to mind is Anthem Blue Cross. At least here in CA, if I move someone from their Med Supp into an MA plan, the original broker (if certified) gets the commission. I assume this holds true moving MA to MA.

If there is no broker and the client went direct, I have a chance of becoming the agent and receiving commission.

I've made the original broker some decent money on several MA plans (PPO) in the past year. They never call to thank me.

Thank you....They don't follow up with the client they probably have no idea what you did with the client...they are sitting back and collecting the commissions...

I guess you could look at this two ways...If you can lock someone up with these carriers you no longer have to service them because anyone helping them in the future creates more commission for you (And No I am not Advocating this). Or two these carriers suck because they will reward non-performing brokers.
