MedSupp carriers that don't play well with GI

GI rights do not cover plan N.

True, but unless things have changed, Anthem (GA) had/has plan N as an option for GI. As of 2023 this appears in the GI section of their app.

Anthem offers the following
Medicare Supplement
insurance plans, if you are
eligible for Medicare when
turning age 65 or by disability...

Prior to 1/1/2020, Plan A
or F. In addition, Anthem
allows you to enroll into
Plan N.

• On or after 1/1/2020,
Plan A or G. In addition,
Anthem allows you to enroll
into Plan N.

Carriers are allowed to offer more liberal options but not more restrictive.

Yes, in the end, it's up to the carriers if they want to be more liberal. Going back to United American, they also allow GI business into Plan N. Allstate did not. Exposing Plan N to GI business isn't really a good thing for those on Plan N, I don't think. Seems like it would lead to rate increases more along the lines of Plan G. Time will tell.

Given the number of carriers who pay little or nothing when an agent submits a GI app, my opinion is there are not enough of those situations to poison the pool of G policyholders. Even less for N policyholders.

I know some agents have "sounded the alarm" about huge rate increase for G plans due to the new GI rules, but the majority of new G entrants are turning 65 or coming off EGH and using their SEP right.

I don't know any agent who is actively soliciting GI Medigap business, even if they have a carrier paying full commission. Most of those prospects will end up in an MA plan whether they want it or not.
