Medicare Part D... It Ain't All Duff.

I don't understand people paying more for BCBS. I had an appointment today that cancelled today because I couldn't sell BCBS. I actually have access to it but never wanted to get contracted with them. The F plan is about $80 more per month!

So, I got my first client of the year due to Part D concerns. Her sister brought her to the office to get off Humana's PDP. "I ain't changing my Blue Cross!!!". I guess her sister was on her that she was paying too much.

After a little disarming conversation, chit chat, fact finding, etc. She was on Plan C with BCBS $280/mo.:swoon:effective 1/1/2007 so she was eligible for GI. I gave her the alternative AnTex Plan C @ $184 and change. She jumped on it like a martar on a virgin.

Offering part D assistance last year netted me 45 clients. One per day... that almost makes it worth the BS CMS puts us through.

Oh, and how can I find out about getting clients the part D assistance? Do you call a number for them?

"I" actually sit down with them, a list of their drugs, enter them in the medicare.gov plan finder, explain the difference between the top two and their current plan, and assist them in enrolling even if they need a plan that we don't carry (you can do that on the medicare web site).

It's a hassle, but last years efforts that netted me 45 new supps... $855/mo in income all year long.

edit: actually when you said part D assistance I thought you meant gov't assistance.

That's another area we help. We know the limits and availability of all state and federal assistance levels and suggest, help, and encourage folks to take advantage of anything it appears they are eligible for. You'd be surprised how many should be on assistance and aren't due to lack of knowledge.

Could somebody explain to me how come I have over 250 of those PDP plans laying around out there and so far I have only had 1 client call me about changing her plan so far this year and yet "GORDON" seems to have them just walking through his door every day. Seems like a case of 2+2=5 to me. The parade of complaintants wont be until January when they figure out they have that new 100 deductible! Excuse me for thinking out loud!

In my Mickey Mouse" newsletter I told them to start calling NOW and that enrollment starts Nov. 15th. I also told them that this year we will not be making outbound phone calls. It is impossible for us to make sure we contact 100% if we were doing the calling. Some get help elsewhere, don't want to change, or are LIS and have no hurry to change since they have a SEP monthly. So our time is better served taking care of those that call in or walk in. Plus if I call two sisters and don't get around to #3... she's mad.

There won't be much room for our clients to complain. We compare the top three plans for thier situation, show them why one is better than another and keep a copy of everything in their file. Sure they'll forget, but a polite reminder to look at the plan compare sheets will calm down any ill feelings.

Oh yea... another new client just left. He was T65 though.

More insight...

Maybe your clients aren't comfortable calling you for help. Maybe you come across to them the way you act in here. Maybe they don't want to deal with your conspiracy theory drama riden self. I used to get clients all the time from D.Noble in Springfield. He's turned into a jerk and treats them like idiots... good for me. I've taken dozens upon dozens of his clients while offering the exact plans with the same companies. It's all about service.

Just a thought.

I've got between 100-150 PDP plans out there. I've had one person to call me on them since they were sent literature on their 2010 benefits and premium. And most of them are with AdvantraRX and quite a few have the value plan that just added a $100 deductible on them and a $12.90 monthly increase in premium.

Gordon, if you have folks walking into your office on a daily basis wanting you to review their coverage based on a, as you put it, "mickey mouse" news letter, what is causing them to read that vs. apparently not reading the literature they receive from their PDP plan letting them know of their coverage for 2010 and 50% rate increase on their plan from AdvantraRX?

And..is there anyone in your state that doesn't have a med-supp with you?

I'll say this about T65 lists that I've gotten for the last few months and telemarketed the lists. I've written quite a few med-supps each month off of those lists. Some of them I wrote off of the initial call. Most of them required a 2nd or even 3rd call. Out of all the one's I've written that didn't buy based on my initial call, none of them have called me back wanting to get the coverage. I've been the one calling them back, in every case.
