Medicare Sales in Southern California

Hi, all. I'm a ica/captive agent for UHC in upstate NY. I want to move to southern California in about a year {once I have more savings and more in monthly residuals}. Does anybody have experience as a medicare rep, especially for UnitedHealthcare, in socal? I have a lot of questions, like what is the market like year round, how many sales a month can be expected, etc. I'm also getting certified for the marketplace/Medicaid here now, so any experience with Medi-cal would help too. I'm going to talk to my agent manager soon, but would like to talk to someone with first-hand experience over there. Thanks and happy new year!

Forget about SoCal.

1. The Statee of California took over the Medi-Cal market @ 5 years ago and automatically put almost everyone into one of 5 companies. To enroll a person in a UHC Medi-Cal plan (which is far from the best), these people would have to contact the State of California and opt out of their plan to enroll in the UHC, SCAN, Anthem, etc plan. Since they already are getting almost all of the benefits from the private plan, there is no major reason for them to switch (which they have done numerous times in the past and hate to do).

2. There's a lot of business.....but a lot of agents.

3. You're from upstate New York. Before u move out here, have a doctor check your heart. You'll need to rob 3 banks to pay the rent. And, the gas is the highest in the U.S.

If you still do decide to come, good luck. Even though you will be in my back yard and taking business from me. :)
