For years, the only carriers I wrote med supps with were United American (very big in SE Florida) and AARP/UHC (because, well, you have to). In the past couple of years I've got appointed with a couple of other carriers because of their rates in other states in which I'm licensed. My biggest mistake was not carefully reading their commissions policy on apps written as GI because of a move or Medicare Advantage plan termination. Humana Achieve was my first big disappointment. I had a client move to OK so I put him in a Humana Achieve supplement for a one-time commission of $26. My next big disappointment came with a referral in SC where Allstate is really competitive. Come to find out that for that one I get a whopping $19 one-time commission. Would you care to contribute to a list of med supp carriers that pay full commission for GI applications?
