Mini Med Plans

has anyone been successful selling mini-medical plans and if so what plans have worked for you. My clients are dropping their health insurance due to cost and ask about these products.

Limited benefit health plans are an INSULT to the industry. If your customer can't afford creditable coverage, raise the deductible until they can. The ONLY application for these is temporary coverage between group coverage, or inability to pass underwriting on an individual plan....

Thanks for your replies, I was scared of these plans also.

Mini Meds should never be used as an alternative to a STM plan.

Waste of $$.

And the liability to both the client and the agent is huge.

Mini Meds should only be sold when they do not qualify for anything else.

Even the decent ones suck.

But if your only option is paying cash, they are the only option you have.

Sometimes I think instead of spending about $200 a month for an ind or $350 mo for a family plan for a mini med, these people would be better off with the Careington Total Care discount bundle for $30 a month, and getting DI/CI/LI/Accident Medical Expense Coverage instead.

But this concept only works with intelligent people, and sadly there is a low percentage of those kinds of folks shopping online for health insurance.
