Yeah, they suck, and they could ban MM's without taking over the health insurance industry?

yeah, i got no issue with those being banned...
course that would be "reform" and not take over.
My bad.

If mini-med's should be banned, shouldn't hosp/surg plans, plans w/out rx, etc be banned as well?

They give the client a false sense of hope.

Precisely.

Plus, what people (agents) don't understand is that those plans lead to a disproportionate number of lawsuits with YOU (agent) being named as co-defendant. Talk about fun.
:GEEK:

Go Ensign!

The hearing contained no surprises as Senator Rockefeller criticized the plans for failing to meet the needs of all beneficiaries. Senator John Ensign provided the most aggressive GOP questioning, asking, "My question would be if [limited benefit plans] do more harm than good, why did HHS grant waivers? If there's more harm than good, shouldn't HHS just say, 'Sorry, that's the way the law is.'...What HHS actually recognized is it is at least better to have some insurance, instead of no insurance, which is why they're granting these waivers."

expand upon that waiver deal please?

HHS picked the winners again, and granted a waiver to 1000 companies who offer limited benefit plans. This waiver allows them to NOT meet the minimum PPACA requirements that kicked in 9/23. Ex: unlimited prev care, no annual max, etc.

(Unlike the real major medical plans, from real insurance companies, being sold by real agents.)

I've called it junk insurance several times on this forum, no one dislikes these policies more than I do. I would say that more than 75% of the policy holders never actually understand what they have until they have to put a serious claim in. To call banning these products reform instead of take over is silly, you're saying I agree take the products off the market, I agree so will call it reform. I would call CMS ever changing guidelines gradual take over not reform. Of course CMS calls it reform.
