Two Republican Senators, Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn, are warning the leaders of the NFL and other sports associations not to promote Obamacare. McConnell and Cornyn also urged sports leaders to resist any potential threat of policy retaliation to solicit support by the administration. A spokesman for the NFL told the Senators that the league has no plans to work with HHS on health law.

What might the "threat of policy retaliation" look like? Do you think these senators are justified in worrying about professional sports associations promoting Obamacare?

So McConnell's advice is, basically, not to "risk damaging its inclusive and apolitical brand by lending its name to its promotion"

So, don't bring politics into sports. People will stop watching football because they don't like Obama?

Makes perfect sense, I stopped watching NASCAR and NHRA because they advertise chewing tobacco. I heard Obama is a NBA fan, I haven't watched a game since.

At this point we need to worry more about how to service our clients and worry less about who's name on it. Its the law as of next year and we are going to go through an explosion of people trying to figure out what they need to do.

You stopped watching NASCAR because of them starting to advertise tobacco. You must have quit watching decades ago. Tobacco was one of the earliest sponsors

The Winston Cup? The very first title sponsor of NASCAR?

"Because" not "when they started". As someone who has lost family members to tobacco related health issues, it's tough to enjoy cars going really fast when they're covered in the logo of what killed grandma. Didn't bother me before that.

No matter what you advertise, someone will take issue. IMO, advertising a LAW is not the same as taking a political side. I see no difference from advertising "buckle up" or "don't text and drive". Supporting a candidate, that's a different issue entirely.

I recognize this is my opinion against his opinion, but I personally have difficulty seeing it from his side.
