The National Association of Insurance Commissioners
(NAIC) has stated they will not have clear definition on the MLR until DEC of this year.

I was really hoping to have a clear picture of the MLR at the end of this month.

I'm hoping they implement the MLR slowly over the next three years instead of throwing the 80/20 hammer down right off the bat.

Sure would be nice to know in advance.

I am hoping that agent/broker comp is not included in the MLR at all.
The NAHU is lobbying to have have our comp outside the MLR. This would be best case scenario to us keeping our comp close to what it is today.

If they rule that our comp is to be included with the 20%-25% of admin cost we are SOL.

Actually why wouldn't it go up? You would have 20% AFTER agent comp... LOL...

I read this as well, but I must admit my guy tells me this is a long shot.

I spoke with my state DOI and they are wanting agents to operate outside the MLR. They gave me a copy of the letter they sent to NAIC

It might be a long shot but if the NAIC is on board with this we could get it. If we don't we could be done starting next year. Small group and Individual will be gone.

Large group will still be there but there segment is dominated by the large broker houses.

It won't be gone just reduced comp.
