Missouri
is taking so long.

I had a good conversation with a person higher up with Christian Fidelity. He said the reason the modernized plans are taking so long is that Missouri is making the carriers "mesh" their current book with the new modernized plans. NO NEW BOOKS OF BUSINESS. That can explain alot and also deflates my bubble a bit. With the GI law we have I can sort of understand it. Otherwise you would have a mass exodus form old to new.

What say ye?

Frank, you seem to have had some converstions with other carriers... anyone say anything about that?

I haven't heard any final word on that yet but nothing would surprise me in Missouri. Since we are a guar issue state things are sometimes different for us.

It's not MO: Federal law mandates the new plans 6/1, keeps the old plans going 'til then.

That's true everywhere (including Missouri).

You aren't making sense. What are you getting at?

The old plans keep going forever or as long as a client pays the premiums. Gaurantee Renewable is a CMS mandate.

The old policies will be grandfathered in. If you have a Plan J you can keep it, you can't buy one past 6-1-10 though, you'd have to choose one of the new standardized plans

Agree.

The current plans should not be canceled, , as they are Guaranteed Renewable.

Gordon's question was, will the new standardized plans be a new block of business or will it be a continuation of the existing block of business.

As far as I can find out that issue and whether or not companies will allow clients to move to one of the new plans under guaranteed issue is still up in the air.

Regardless, the DOI will have to approve whatever decisions are made. I'm hoping that we have some definitive answers and be able to begin writing apps by the first of April. If anyone doubts that just look at what CMS did with Part C plans last year.

Rumors are running ramped, everyone should realize that there is a lot of guessing and wishful thinking going on right now. We will not know anything "for positive" until the insurance companies publish it and each DOI has approved it.
