Montana Turns Loonie...

None.

All require you to pay for health insurance unless you have an employer that pays the premium for you.

You do realize PCIP isn't free, right?

So....what's in Mexico and Canada they can get for free for 6 months? And don't say marijuana, it ain't free in either country (or so I have heard). :)

of course we expect to incur/pay health plan premiums! my concern is being eligible for a policy without foregoing any insurance at all for 6 months as required by the PCIP plan - and the alternate in Mexico was to go without medical insurance to meet the 6-month waiting period and just pay the reduced fees there - thanks

If you are healthy you need to talk to an agent familiar with plans in those states.

The water in Mexico is free. Can't say about Canada but I understand they make a pretty good ginger ale.

In Canada snow is free. You pay for healthcare through high taxes, long waiting lines and rationed care. Yes, the water is free in Mexico, but it will make you sick enough to go to Canada for healthcare.

I am confused. Nothing new there but it seems to me that moving to Mexico for 6 months just because of the pre-ex is pretty extreme. Unless they have family there they can stay with or something. BTW, I am still fuzzy on the purpose of the 6 month pre-ex. I guess we should ask the people who designed the plan. Who was that anyway? We have sent a few clients to PCIP (no pay for us oh well). Haven't gotten any feedback from them yet if it works okay. But then again, we haven't asked either. Still trying to decide if I should sign up for the $100 and give my life to Big Brother. Doesn't seem worth it, not that I have anything to hide.

my interest in which states have universal (not free) health care is only due to eligibility - doesn't anyone know other states besides MA & VT? I have been proactively investigating private policies but have been told I am uninsurable due to diabetes/high cholesterol - we decided that PCIP is a good option before Medicare other than the 6-month requirement without any other insurance - however we have never been without health insurance and it makes me nervous - the only reason we considered staying in Mexico during the 6-month period of no insurance is to have access to some type of reasonably priced routine health care/meds - apparently PCIP's eligibility requirement for 6 months with no health insurance is written into the federal statute and cannot be waived - I guess the purpose is to prevent a mass exodus of presently-insured people from their existing policies to PCIP

Obumma hung out with Marxists and terrorists in college. Attended a church with a racist pastor. Didn't seem to stop him from getting a nice job.

@weebegon, I believe you stated in another thread that you have a group health plan now. Following that you will have COBRA then some form of HIPAA plan.

PCIP is for those who do not have options.
