Mortgage Protection. Do's and Don't's

Okay guys. I cant get contracted with Americo or American-Amicable, For now. They seem to be two of the big players. The only other company I have seen that offers Critical Illness as a rider with Mortgage Term is Assurity. I am contracting with Fidelity Life now. I like that you can do it all over the phone.

I dont have the funds for Mailers other than what my wife and I can send out ourselves. I have access to new homeowners in my state through Realist. I am a Realtor and its free for me. I can get numbers, loan amounts, etc. I am planning on sending 20 hand addressed mailers a week and following up with them the following week. Most carriers have clever mailers in their backoffices I can use. I am trying to build a pipeline through any means necessary. I would even consider door knocking the 3rd week.

My questions to you guys are:

Which Auto-Dialer should I invest in?

How should my script sound?

Which carriers do you guys suggest?

Am I wasting my time with 20 hand addressed mailers?

What else can I do to build my pipeline?

I think it's going to be an uphill battle for you. I think you'd be better off door knocking the new homeowners in your area. You should also go back and see homeowners who bought in the previous year and door knock them too. Sending out 20 mailers at a time will probably end up achieving very poor results.

I was considering 20 personalized mailers hand addressed by my wife in a specific target area. I studied Business Marketing, not that it means much, but I recall the effectivness of custom, personalized marketing. Its much more expensive and time consuming but my wife is a stay at home mom. She would "enjoy" it. Door knocking is freightening but I have heard very effective.

I just bought a new house and in the first 2 weeks (up until now) I have officially recieved EIGHT (8) mailers for mortgage protection insurance. Good luck with sending mailers instead of going door to door. I know it's frightening, but it won't be after the first 10 or so.

You haven't responded to my mailer so I'll drop by tomorrow to help you protect your family from your untimely demise.

If you care about anyone besides yourself, you'll let me take an application for a large whole life policy, critical illness, ltc, etc.

Believe it or not, but I've had more success knocking on doors than calling. Here's my approach.....
1. I send them a mailer explaining the value of protecting their assets and thier family. Included in the letter I also note that I will be in their area on ________ and ______.
When I knock on the door I simply say, "Hello Mr.____, I'm stopping by to follow up on the letter I sent you. I have your personalized quote you requested and I'd like to share it with you, is now a good time?" Then I proceed to book for the following week. It's been very effective but I get to be in front of them. Good Luck!

Syzmik,

Thanks for the advice. I've just started selling MP through Equita Mortgage Group and thought there must be an easier way to do it than they've been suggesting. I'm going to try your approach and let you know how it goes.
