My call to 1-800-MEDICARE

They informed me that ALL Medicare numbers are your social security number with an "A" after it. This is 100% of the time and there are no exceptions.

Usually you see "A" (primary claimant)
Next poplar would be "B" (aged wife, age 62+)
followed by "D" Aged widow, age 60+)
There are another 25 or so letter/# combinations, but, I'm too lazy to type them all.

If they're not collecting social security but they are going on Part A and B of Medicare there's a "T" after their social security #. Once they start collecting social security, than the T usually turns into an A.

Just thought i'd throw another one out there

In the not to distant future, all of us indie's will be heavily recruited by Medicare to become health police. After our "orientation" we will fan out in our districts and enroll all eligibles much the same way as the census is taken today. It will be mandatory. The underage applicants will require a separate department which will call in our prospects by "audit." If they are not on a government approved plan, we will have ticketing authority. There will be no commissions, just wages. The State of America will be proud...

If only these examples could be compiled and shoved in the faces of the CMS auditors that scrutinize ethical, well educated, trained professional agents...dollars to donuts agents know far more than CMS' own government paid employees

I see what the Medicare employee was saying...we do sell "Medigap" plans, afterall in the form of Medicare Supplements. so from that perspective they were correct. And most people would statistically not be in the donut hole for more than a few months ....just my two cents.

while you're defending these morons, what about the statement she made about the coverage gap and the doughnut hole being two different things??? :D

I would have to have been there; the coverage gap to my mind refers to the 20% that Medicare does not pay. The coverage gap she was referring to....I don't know; I wasn't there. I mean the donut hole is a coverage gap too...do I love the government .....no...not at all; but hey; I'm a Libra...trying to be fair and balanced...plus well, um; I'm in California; I don't want to unintentioanlly HURT ANYBODY, YOU KNOW....!!
