Need Advice on Career Path/change!!

I am sure there will be a non compete and I would not expect to own the business. To be honest with a split like what you are getting I would be thrilled. You may want to ask about bonuses though that is a good idea.

I like your attitude about sales just keep in mind even though you have 100 prospects that is what they are prospects. I tell my staff all of the time when they start telling me about quotes and prospects that quotes and prospects don't pay the bills new business and applications pay the bills. You will do fine with a split like that but it will take some time no matter how many people you know to get your book built up. My advice is go after all of the auto you can everything else will fall into place. Everyone wants to save money on their car insurance. Best of luck to you...

I am meeting with him again next week to let him know if I am taking the job or not. I will find out about the book of business thing and the non compete. I'm almost positive there is a non compete in there. I didn't think about the other though.

I worked hard with Aflac for a long time. I opened the most payroll accounts in the state of Alabama in 2009. I only worked 9 months in 2009. 2010 has been really crappy though. I know I can make this insurance thing work. I just need to find my "niche". As some people say on the Forum. I just love the freedom and rewards of working on my own and knowing that I get paid by how hard/smart I work. And driving 200 miles a day hoping to see an employer isn't working anymore.

Thanks for the help guys. If there isn't anything that you guys can think of that you would recommend me not taking the position, then I guess I will meet with him and get it all rolling then.

They also offered a job of taking leads they get from the state realtor board in my area and setting appointments to sell life and annuities and stock and bonds to new home owners. The more financial side of things I guess. I have no idea about that stuff. They would send me to Atlanta for training on that job though. Anyone know anything about that sort of job or pay?

The 80/50 split is better than what we offer at our agency.

Our agency provides the office space, computers, E&O, etc along with a minimal amount of advertising and/or online lead purchases. Additional advertising costs are the responsibility of each producer.

I would take the deal they offered and go hit up your Aflac clients/prospects.
