Need an advice on Progressive Appointment

Does anyone have experience getting appointed with Progressive after been turned down initially ?
I tried in 2017 and in 2018 . Both times I was turned down . The reason given was that Progressive has no appetite for Commercial Trucking at the time. My book is mostly commercial .
The rep did not even bother to return a phone call .
Are they still appointing in the Midwest ? My agency is in Wisconsin

If your book is commercial, and your focus is trucking, and Progressive has no appetite for trucking, why would you bother contacting them? If your focus is not trucking, there are scores of carriers who will beat a path to your door if you are profitable.

Progressive is a must have appointment in trucking . Sometimes a client goes through a difficult year and Progressive is the way to keep them on board .

Progressive gives you access to trucking with a personal lines appointment. Why don't you try showing them a business plan on how you can grow a PL bundled book of business over the next 12-18 months of $500k in premium? That is 1 PL inside sales producer. You can hire a virtual assistant out of Puerto Rico for about $30k a year to be your inside sales person. Have them cross sell your current book on PL and lead with Progressive. If you can write 500k in premium with a VA you would double your investment and get the appointment you need. I have 7 virtual assistants across the US, Philippines, and Puerto doing everything from sales, receptionist, processing, telemarketing, and account management.

That seems to be the way to go . Progressive wants to see some PL on the books . I have been avoiding the PL but i might need to hire someone to do just that if I want an appointment.
Thank you AdvisorsIns for shedding some light on the subject !

I'm thinking about finding a VA to help me in my agency but don't they need P&C license to help with sells?

Hi ,
I have had an insurance agency since a year now and my business experience in sales for both the commercial and personal lines is over 25 years . I had requested Progressive for a direct appointment and they turned me down saying that their minimum requirement for a new business is two years
I had also serviced progressive directly through two brokerages under my personal name.
I know another brokerage that had opened up in just now in Feb 21 ( they just ncorporated) and they have gotten appointed with them. How can that possibly happen?
Any sugggestions ?

My agency is in Wisconsin. Depending on your situation, maybe you want to join an agency first, build a book, and then go on your own with carriers, including Progressive. I'm able to write long-haul trucking without any "extra" limits. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk
