Need Carrier for Art Exhibit

I'm preparing to do a quote on a high value art exhibit. I will be speaking to the client tomorrow to gather more info, but I need to go ahead and get started on this.

From what I understand at the moment, the exhibit will be sitting in one place for most of the year. And part of the year it will travel throughout the country.

I have no experience dealing with artwork. And none of my primary carriers insure this type of risk. So I have to move fast and find a brokerage or an mga. Any suggestions for something like this?

I would love to hear all thoughts and ideas on insuring this type of risk.

Thanks

What is the sum insured of the exhibit? Depending on the size, there are several carriers / programs that would insure it. I would try Chubb, Travelers, and Huntington T Block (a division of Aon based in DC). Also, a couple of Lloyd's brokers (RK Harrison comes to mind) have programs that are quite competitive -- good luck!

PM me if you have any questions.

The buyer believe it will fall between 10 and 20 million.

I had a friend tell me that Chubb wouldn't do an exhibit, only valuable artwork in the home.

Would Chubb and other carriers listed insure an actual exhibit at a stand alone location, that could possibly travel?

Thanks!

You should be able to obtain a standalone quote from most of them. Key will be location and perils (flood zone, wind or quake exposure, etc), installed security features, building characteristics, etc., as well as the type of art and values of individual pieces.

BTW - I'm not at the office now, but will gladly send you information and a questionnaire / proposal form in the morning if you wish. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help out with suggestions, presentation, etc. -- I've done more than a few of these over the years. Just PM me

Philadelphia would probably write this. They're slowing down on agent appointments, though. You might also want to check out USLI or Hartford.

Thanks I will check out them out too.

The prospective client has been difficult to reach as of lately, so we'll see how it all turns out.
