On the other end of the spectrum from a $12M home lost,

Are the homeless experiencing loss of encampments, shelters, and food services because of the fires?

No minimizing.

The homeless lose encampments, shelters, and food services on the regular.

Also, not all these homes are home to the rich and famous. With rich and famous insurance. Some are renters. And some owners are seeing an opportunity.

Horrible.

Can these folks that are [so called] price gouging claim that they are simply adding on costs due to what will be increased Insurance Costs moving forward?

Also interesting that you are allowed to Sell the house to the highest bidder but you are not allowed to Rent to the highest bidder.

Its the price gouging law during disasters. I can understand it for water and necessities. While housing is a necessity..... it does seem like overreach.

Disasters like this always put pressure on the poor... the Carolina issue isn't to far in the rear view mirror.

What creates the worst situation is when capital is spent on social engineering projects rather than taking care of the day to day stuff.

As to insurance, the risk just totally out weighed the risk. The bean counters are going to make a model out of this and smart companies who don't want to loose, will wisely side step offering coverage.

You can prepare for the Santa Ana winds, or you can listen to political blow hards... one of them comes with a huge price tag.
