Need Help or Advice

Hello everyone!

I'm looking to go independent but I don't know how to I go about signing with different insurance companies. I'm captive rt now with NYL but I haven't been there long, only about 6 months. I actually have until next month to produce more business or else. I'm not worried about that at all, I just want to do my own thing.

Can anyone recommend any companies that would be a good for me to write business for. I've only been in the business for about a year. Also, do I have to be a broker to write for multiple insurance companies? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't produced for NYL, what makes you think you can produce for yourself?

That is a very good question and I have an answer. The reason I haven't produced well for this company is because of all the red tape I go through with underwriting, my willingness to not be owned and the fact that I don't like having "production deadlines". I understand that this business is production base and there are some deadlines but I want make straight commission without the salary and restrictions that comes with a captive company. I found a way to get good leads, I'm not worried about that, it's just that I don't want to be owned by anyone.
I'm currently working with a city and I'm reluctant to give this business to NYL cause I know I'm not going to be there long and I would hate to have done all this work and when I leave, they keep the account and I get nothing. I'm working with a partner of mine who works for another captive company, so the people I can't sign up, for whatever reason, I pass them to him and he pays me under the table.

I know I can produce but, do I want to produce for someone else or do I want to produce for me? I want to produce for me. And besides, I had to produce in order to trigger my contract for NYL. Thanks for the feed back

Leads are not the answer in this business; it is your attitude and determination. Before emancipating yourself check to make sure that it is in fact your environment that is oppressing you as opposed to your attitude. I hope this helps.

Jim: What companies do you represent? What is your area of specialty?

Hi there!!

I'm currently contracted with NYL and AFLAC. I was supposed to resign from AFALC according to the bylaws of NYL but I never did, since I wasn't writing any business for them, I didn't find that necessary. I'm new in the business, so I don't really have a specialty. I'm experience in doing group benefits and life insurance, annuities and AFLAC products. Do u have anyone in mind who might give me a shot? Thanks

Do you specialize in individual or group sales?
