Net Book Computers?

Doesn't everyone?

The 4G is a plus where available.

I understand the difference in the two. Biggest difference (to me at least) is the pricing.

Flat rate pricing for WiMax with unlimited usage around $50 vs $90 or so for Verizon or AT&T and limits on usage with overage fees.

My verizon plan was $60/month with virtually unlimited usage, as long as I wasn't streaming 5 full length videos in hi resolution a day then Verizon didn't care at all. I'm not sure what sprint is, but if you have a blackberry through them you can tether it without any extra cost on their unlimited usage plan.

I have the Acer Aspire One with the 8.9" screen and the 8GB SD drive. My wife uses the Aspire One with the 8.9" screen and the 160GB hard drive. Mine is a few ounces lighter, but both machines are about the same otherwise in terms of performance. I keep illustration software and Advisys Back Room Technician on mine. It comes in handy when visiting a client. The keyboard is a little cramped (I wouldn't write a dissertation on it) but it works great for internet, email, light word processing and spreadsheets, etc. Best of all, with my Sprint Centro I can connect to the internet and write business on the spot.

My wife loves hers because she travels a lot and always hated lugging a full size laptop through airports. The screen resolution (1024 x 600) is fine for most tasks, although you won't want to be multi-tasking on it like you would with your dual 24" desktop monitors. All in all, this is a great little machine.

Hi, I bought netbook to access my home PC with remote control software (radmin). It's a solution when I forget to copy some files or help my dear wife. But for anything else laptop is better because is more powerful.

I have always had a regular laptop in the past, but last winter my laptop crashed and having only $300 I was faced with buying a used laptop or a new netbook. After a lot of research I chose to buy a netbook and it was the best decision I could have made. I will share what I learned in my research.

1. Get the EEE from Asus. This was the best product for the most reasonable price. One big perk over the other netbooks out there was the amazing amount of memory it has. The Dell and other quality names are more expensive making a traditional laptop more logical. The Acer is just crap.

2. Buy a external CD-Rom/DVD-Rom drive from Amazon. I got a CD-RW drive for $20 and it has made life much easier.

3. Go to Best Buy and practice typing on one before you buy it. A few of my friends have trouble typing on the board.

4. Have a traditional PC or Laptop first. It is not a great primary computer. They are perfect as a mobile computer, but the screen size can be hard on the eyes after a long day.

I recently purchased a Acer Aspire one 10" for 299$ at Target. This works perfect for what I need. The fact the it doesn't include a optical dvd drive is irrelevant, because all software and quoting tools can be downloaded.

The speed is slower than a laptop, but my unit came with 1GB of RAM, and I purchased a new RAM upgrade for 40$ from crucial.com to give my unit a total of 2GB. This enhances the speed tremendously, and makes this a perfect solution for my needs. I highly recommend this for appointment use!

I have a 10 inch asus netbook and love it. then again, i have a 17 inch laptop too. But for trips and going on cases, I think it is fabulous. and they can still do most things others can... just dont expect to play graphic intensive multi player games on them. also... dont forget, most do not have a cd rom.
