Networking

I am a fairly new personal lines P & C agent, just about 6 months in. I write in Wisconsin which has some of the lowest premiums in the country which makes it even more challenging to write a large amount on a weekly basis. As it is I am averaging just under $4,000 in premium a week. This is around 3 households since if I write one line I typically get the rest.

I am doing this primarily using mojo to call residential to quote/x-date mixed with about 20 internet leads a month. I don't have a huge marketing budget but I don't have many living expenses either.

What I want to do is get out and do some networking for centers of influence like CPAs, mortgage brokers, realtors, etc. Does anyone have any advice on how to create these relationships? I would appreciate any input you have!

Since you are in P and C, I would recommend volunteering at a Job Seekers meeting on a regular basis. Once they get to know/like/trust you, they will probably approach you about "lowering their premiums" since they are in job search.

They are also a great source for referrals, both business and personal.

Also, book yourself as a speaker at a Civic Organization or Community Group.

Look in the newspaper for Networking groups & chambers of commerce. They worked wonders for me! Getting involved on the different committees works even more so.
Bowling, golf outings, etc... You'd probally be surprised if I told you which grew the best and what I grossed from it. (still reaping the benefits and quit 2 years ago !
Good luck !
