New Agent Buying Leads!

I am a new agent in florida and thinking about buying leads but i have heard horror stories about doing so. does anyone have any good advice on which one to use? Also, i have been contacted by an agent from southern home loans saying that they gurantee their leads to be a policy. has anyone ever had any dealings with them because it seems to good to be true.

Thanks,
Rich:1wink:

best advice anyone can give you regarding leads is:

Learn to generate your own

What are you buying leads for? Home & Auto or Life?

This makes a difference.

I am a Indy personal lines agent but mainly thinking of buying home leads. From my short time in the business it seems if people tend to shop auto more so i figured i would try to get more homes and the cross sell to the auto policies.

Thanks,
Rich

I have tried them all, my advice is to only buy home leads, and only from a "leader" in the lead industry. I use insure me in Cali. I am able to get back ( on average) a little more then I put in every month. I am not including additional policies I get through cross sales.

I have also been contacted by southern home loans and it has piqued my interest. Did you end up trying them? How are they? Has anyone on the forum used them?

obviously the best thing to do is to generate your own leads. but he is asking for advise in buying leads.

I have seen agents get all their business through buying leads having 4-6 lead agency going at one time. My advise is to try it out. But you have to commit. And when I say commit, i mean at least $300-$500 per agency to see if it works or not. If it does not, then drop that agency and pick up another one. Buying leads is a full time job if you want to get your moneys worth. If you arent a phone person then dont even get started. Be ready to contact your lead at least 10 times before throwing in the towel on that lead. Most people that have bought leads give up because they do not have an effective follow through plan in place and thus do not make sales and fall off and then have negative feedback on them.

You also have to see how aggressive your carrier is in the area you are marketing. If you cant stack up with the competition then do not buy that type of lead.

I do like the idea of leading in with the home then go after their autos, aux vehicles, umbrella, business, and life etc.

Hope this helps.
